Movement Detroit 2017 Announces Phase 1 Lineup: Carl Cox, Danny Brown, Soul Clap & More | #IRP

Detroit is the birth place of techno, and it goes without saying the Motor City knows good music when it hears it. Movement is a festival unlike anything else, dedicated to the realest DJs, the best MCs, and the rough gem of a city that made all this music possible.

The critically-acclaimed festival is back May 27-29, 2017, in its home of Hart Plaza, and this year, they’re pulling out the big guns. It’s only phase 1, but Carl Cox is announced to headline Monday, May 29, of that Memorial Day Weekend.

“I am really looking forward to coming back to the home of Techno, it’s been a few years now since I was there last, but I can finally say, I am coming back,” Carl Cox is quoted in a press release. “I always have so much fun, with my DJ peers and the party people. I cannot wait to rock the dance floor once again. See you soon.”

The bill rounds out with 65 acts including the Movement debut of Juan Atkins, Derrick May, and Kevin Saunderson as The Belleville Three, as well as Soul Clap‘s debut as a live band. In fact, there will be many live performances from Audion,Factory Floor, Mount Kimbie, and others. There’s also quite the hip-hop presence lead by rappers Danny Brown and Earl Sweatshirt, and backed by Claude VonStroke’s hip-hop alter ego, real name Barclay Crenshaw.

Of course, Movement is still and always will be a place for the real DJs. Fans can look forward to sets from Adam Beyer, Dixon, Nicole Moudaber, Chris Liebing, Carl Craig, Jamie Jones, and many more. Tickets are on sale now at movement.us. Check the flyer below for full lineup details.
