With just six days to go until Virgil Abloh presents the Off-White™ Spring/Summer 2019 collection during Paris Fashion Week, the designer has now announced that the runway show will be a tribute to Dondi White. White was a world-famous graffiti artist who died of AIDS at the age of 37 in 1998.
Explaining the theme, Abloh added that it would be “highlighting his legacy in art” and that proceeds would be donated to God’s Love We Deliver, a New York-based charity that delivers nutritious meals to people in the area with severe illnesses. KAWS also shared his thoughts on the news, posting a picture of White’s “Bishop of Battle” work and adding that he was “looking forward to seeing what you’re [Abloh] up to!” The Off-White™ Spring/Summer 2019 show is on June 20 with Abloh’s first Louis Vuitton collection to be unveiled a day later.
