In July 2021, images of Drake’s Nike Air Force 1 collaboration “Certified Lover Boy” surfaced online, giving fans a glimpse of what to expect for the imminent drop. However, since the reveal of the shoe, which was gifted to family and friends of the Toronto rapper, Nike nor Drake have given additional details regarding when the shoe is expected to be released.
The shoe, at a glance, appears to be a regular pair of Nike Air Force 1 Low in crisp white. However, it is the details that set it apart from other designs or silhouettes. Drake’s rendition of the classic shoe offers a slight constructional modification, including a premium leather build and the customary “Air” branding traded out for “Love You Forever” on the midsole and heart-shaped textures on the front of the AF1.
Despite initial whispers of the shoe’s expected to release to take place in 2022, rumors have circulated that Drake’s Nike Air Force 1 “Certified Lover Boy” are canceled due to the complexity of the design and its difficult make. However, industry insider Brendan Dunne seems to have addressed the issue stating in a Tweet, “Some rumors floating around this week that the Drake Air Force 1s were canceled. Per a source at Nike, that is not the case and a release is still coming.”
At this moment, it is still uncertain whether or not the shoe will be coming in 2022 or if ever. Drake nor Nike have released an official statement on the collaboration. Fans might just have to hold on a little longer before they can potentially take home the highly sought-after pair.
