Thirty Seconds to Mars, the progressive rock band led by actor/musician Jared Leto, released its first trailer for Camp Mars: The Concert Film. Leto directed the film, which will show two nights of performances at the band’s three-day overnight “adult summer camp” in Malibu, California.
In the clip, fans walk around the campgrounds while festival-sized crowds cheer in the distance. According to Leto, who speaks in voiceover, he envisioned creating a large-scale music event like Camp Mars for years. Thirty Seconds to Mars hope to make the camp event into an annual tradition.
“The very first Camp Mars was pure magic,” Leto said. “It was insane and amazing and we knew in the first five minutes we would be doing it again. Music, art, nature, friends, food and fun.” The three-day, overnight festival launched in 2015 in late August and was billed as a summer camp and more intimate music festival. Camp Mars featured camp activities like hiking, yoga and campfire sing-a-longs along with performances from Thirty Seconds to Mars and numerous DJ sets.
Camp Mars: The Concert Film will be released October 9th at 12 p.m. PT. Viewers can download the film on VyRT, an on-demand Internet streaming platform that combines original content and social media, which Leto founded in 2011.
Thirty Seconds to Mars will release their fifth studio album next year.
