Tragedy seems to be abundant lately, and adding to that, Alan Stone, one of the co-founders of Nintendo of America, has unfortunately passed away. Stone, who was additionally known for his involvement with SEGA and more recently Nanotech, passed away at the age of 71 due to cancer. Stone left Nintendo and joined SEGA as the CEO of SEGA Enterprises (now SEGA Entertainment) by 1994. He then played a role as the chief operating officer and a board member for Nanotech.

Stone was responsible for helping to popularize arcade titles such as Donkey Kong and Mario Bros. in North America, and the gaming industry will certainly miss him.
