New Banger Alert: Calvin Harris Announces New Single Featuring Ariana Grande, Pharrell and Young Thug | #iRockParties

We have seen Calvin teasing us on social media for days now about a major announcement coming our way today. We were trying to guess if it was new music, a music video or something even bigger. While no, Calvin did not drop a new single today, unlike some sites exclaimed yesterday, he did announce one and it looks gigantic.

The new track is called ‘Heat Stroke’ and is featuring some of the biggest names in music today. The track features Ariana Grande, Pharrell and Young Thug. I am not sure if we could ask for a more stacked single from the legendary producer. We are hoping this track will drop this Friday but as of now we have no official word.

Lenny Kravitz to Honor Prince, Plus Alicia Keys & More Added to Lineup for Rock Hall Induction Ceremony | #iRockParties

This year’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony just got even more star-studded.

When music greats gather to honor the likes of Pearl Jam, Tupac, Journey and more on April 7 at Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, Lenny Kravitz will also be in attendance to perform a special tribute to the late Prince.

Along with Kravitz, the Rock Hall also announced Wednesday (March 29) that Alicia Keys, Mary Chapin Carpenter and the Indigo Girls will be performing as well. But the big news doesn’t stop there. Pharrell is also set to present Chic’s Nile Rodgers with the Award for Musical Excellence, Train frontman Pat Monahan will induct Journey, and Dhani Harrison — son of The Beatles’ George Harrison — will induct Electric Light Orchestra.

Kravitz, Keys, Pharrell, Harrison and Monahan join a previously announced list of famous guests, with Snoop Dogg revealing earlier this week that he will induct his friend and rap legend Tupac Shakur. The first round of presenters was announced in January, including Neil Young (introducing Pearl Jam), Rush’s Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson (introducing Yes), and Jackson Browne (introducing Joan Baez).

Although the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will take place April 7, the recorded event will air on HBO April 29 at 8 p.m. ET/PT. Prior to the ceremony, a special exhibit honoring the 2017 inductees will open at the Rock Hall in Cleveland on March 31.

Arrests and medical calls way down at this year’s Ultra Music Festival | #LockItDown | #iRockParties

S/o to the entire Guardian Security Team | #LockItDown

A series of changes and a maturing crowd and police department made this year’s Ultra Music Festival in downtown Miami —ultra nice.

There were only 35 arrests over the three-day event at Bayfront Park that attracted more than 150,000 dancing, singing and partying — mostly young people — from all around the world.

That represented a drop in arrests by almost 50 percent from the previous year and continued a trend that’s been steadily decreasing since 2013.

“Education, co-operation and everybody is maturing,” said Miami police Lt. Freddie Cruz.

As for the drugs that have plagued the event in the past and put Miami Fire Rescue on high alert, transports to emergency rooms — like arrests — took a precipitous drop this year.

“This year people were definitely following advice,” and laying off the drugs, said Miami Fire Rescue Capt. Ignatius Carroll.

Over the three-day weekend that began Friday, only 59 people were transported to area hospitals. And of those, fire rescue wouldn’t even begin to guess how many were drug related. Carroll said the crowds were more mature and overall calls for service were also much lower than in previous years.

The dynamics surrounding Ultra has been changed substantially since a 2014 incident almost caused the death of a security guard.

Now, you must be 18 or older to attend. Bottles and drugs can be dropped in amnesty boxes by the entrances. Only water and fannypacks are permitted inside the park. And roving teams of two graduate students from universities througout South Florida are constantly available for assistance.

The event itself is expensive and with hotels mostly booked, packages that include concert tickets are mostly sky-high. Also, new fencing popular at car races now divides the festival-goers in the park from anyone on Biscayne Boulevard who can’t get inside.

The changes stem from an incident three years ago when security guard Ericka Mack was trampled by fencing when a group of people outside the event crashed the gate and it toppled, landing on her head. She suffered brain hemorrhaging, recovered and filed a $10 million lawsuit against the festival and the city of Miami.

Ultra Music Festival Announces Australian Expansion at UMF Miami 2017

Watch out, ya wallabies, Ultra Music Festival is coming to Australia.

The international music festival brand announced its latest international destination via a total Main Stage takeover at its flagship Miami event. This marks Ultra’s fifth continent and 17th country in its 19 years.

It was a loud announcement, to be sure. Every pixel of the massive LED production shone with the red, white, and blue of the Aussie flag. Damian Pinto, aka “The Voice of Ultra,” grabbed the mic and spilled the beans.

“Ultra Music Festival, the global expansion is real,” he said after headliners Axwell & Ingrosso finished their Main Stage performance. “We’re moving to Australia. Give it up for our Aussie fans.”

With only three days until Ultra Music Festival, fans are beginning to find ways of seeing stage spoilers, while Ultra continues to make changes to its lineup.
In quite the unexpected lineup change, Ultra Music Festival has added Sid from Slipknot, A$AP Ferg, Bag Raiders.
While we’re not too sure about Sid from Slipknot, we’re not surprised that the Bag Raiders were added especially with their viral meme which has is quite the random change, it’s really no surprise to see Bag Raiders added to the lineup, especially with the success of their “Shooting Star” memes. Even though the song was released back in 2009, the song was back on the Billboard top Dance/Electronic song list at the #7 spot.

SBE Entertainment Group is rumored to be talking about combining efforts with Hakkasan Group, which runs nightclubs and events in Las Vegas and the Middle East. The two companies are reportedly interested in expanding their current market and expand beyond their respective geographies.

The two companies together would have a combined equity value of about $1 billion and a deal is set to be revealed within the next 60 days. SBE runs SLS and restaurants like Katsuya, and they hope that the two of them combining would mean that they can continue to create “the most dynamic hospitality, residential, restaurant and entertainment company in the industry.”
